Enabling the Distributed Family Tree

This is the official research blog for the Distributed Family Tree, an open network of genealogical data and metadata.  In a nutshell, the big idea is that we can combine all available genealogical information on the Internet into a single distributed network.  The foundation for this network is the substance of the Master's Thesis that I am currently working on.

I previously said that I would start reading at least one research paper a week and then report on it. This week’s paper will be Storage and Querying of E-Commerce Data, which considers alternate implementations and performance results for “vertical representation of sparse data.” In other words, a Quad table like the one I’m using. I found this paper on a page about storing RDF in a relational database.

In the meantime, I’m wondering what my readers have interest in. I keep up with this blog mostly to help organize my thoughts and practice writing. At the same time, if there’s anything you’d like me to expound on or to consider, please let me know!
